Open Source Software For Routers Released

InformationWeek has more information on Vyatta: Open Source Software For Routers Released.

Open source networking infrastructure company Vyatta recently released code that turns a conventional x86 computer into a network router and opened its testing process to the public. "The three hallmarks of open source are cost savings, increased flexibility, and increased security," Vyatta VP of strategy Dave Roberts says. "Having choice and having options is a benefit to everybody. The ability to run on commodity hardware is a huge savings in actual dollars as well as time."
